Again, I support people in contacting and visiting  places in their lives where they have lost touch with themselves. I understand that feeling stuck, wounded or just missing a part of oneself can bring further confusion and injury — often the result of past deprivation and trauma. I assist people in releasing such conditions, and moving on. The same goes especially for working with people courageous enough to have taken up this occupation.

This work is collaborative. I accept clients and other clinicians as and where they are, committing to their therapeutic goals and actual lived experience -- even as these may change over the course of our work. I also stay informed regarding alternative approaches to effective clinical practice.

Though psychodiagnosis can help in understanding personal suffering, the real benefit of psychotherapy involves discovering and developing new ways of being, and openness to new experiences – the ‘moving on’ part. Again, the therapeutic result comes from collaboration: We're in this together.

My approach to supervising other clinicians is framed around the needs of the supervisee, expressed as human being in clinical practice. Again, there is a radical self-acceptance involved: for the beginning clinician, I guide the supervisee's realization that anxiety and discomfort in their work are inevitable, and usually directly meaningful, as per working amidst confused boundaries and suppressed self-expression. For more advanced clinicians, I offer sharing of perspectives, and as often essential, a supportive holding environment for clinicians engaging with deeply-rooted disturbances in their clients (again, often mirrored in their own reactions).

I also handle documentation of supervised hours as required professionally.

We all suffer. Why suffer over suffering?
