I have been licensed and registered as a clinical psychologist in New York State since 2002 (NY015074). I have also been registered with clinical scope in New Zealand from 2011. I have received specialized training in online therapy (e.g., through the International Society for Mental Health Online, American Telemedicine Institute).

While practiced in numerous clinical approaches and models, my therapeutic work is centered on the quality and pattern of attachments which clients make to others -- and to parts of themselves. I find that the trauma and dissociation which many experience in childhood and adolescence -- not only gross abuse, but distressed feelings of living without a sense of being loved, appreciated, understood or cared for -- are at the heart of many difficulties and much suffering in later life. I have specialized in bringing these buried feelings into the light of resolution.

Generalizing about what works in therapy is difficult, given that each person’s requirements and situation are unique. However, research clearly indicates that the quality of client/therapist relationship is of most importance, whatever the therapist’s orientation. When therapy has worked for me, either as therapist or client, there has been something definite, significant and lasting occurring, under the protection of a trusting relationship.

Please  Note: Currently I offer in-person psychotherapy and assessment only in New York, though I offer consultation or coaching to people all over. I am happy to discuss therapy/coaching differences in more detail during an initial online session (free, if out-of-area).

We all suffer. Why suffer over suffering?
